Southern Highlands wedding photography is always a lot of fun. It seems like some of the towns down there are straight out of an old English novel – and Bendooley Estate is exactly that.
Catherine is a self confessed wedding-blogaholic and had been dreaming about creating a day for her and Michael with a vision inspired from many sources. Her Southern Highlands wedding was always going to be something special. And it was.
The day began at the old Berrima Post Office. Catherine’s father had worked there once upon a time and it seemed very appropriate to setup base camp somewhere with some family history. When I arrived there the excitement in the air was palpable. Catherine’s younger Sister was her maid of honor and the two busily went about preparing. It’s such a pleasure to photograph people on their happiest day – I was reminded while developing a polaroid that being a wedding photographer really is something incredibly special.
I was lucky enough to have Jen by my side this day – she photographed the boys getting ready and we met up at the ceremony and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by how incredible the grounds of Bendooley Estate are for Southern Highlands wedding photography. After the ceremony finished I grabbed my Pentax 67 – a beautiful medium format film camera and strolled through the grounds with Jen, photographing the newlyweds. As we talked and photographed it seemed as though their bubble of happiness was contagious and when we weren’t photographing we were laughing and generally just having the time of our lives. Looking back over these shots it seems the bright happy nature of film was the perfect medium to compliment these two lovely human beings.
